Tema West Assembly Showcases Works

THE TEMA West Municipal Assembly (TWMA) in the Greater Accra Region has held its maiden meet-the-press event to demystify numerous ongoing developmental projects under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

In a presentation, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Adwoa Amoako, said the assembly was constructing a two-storey 12-unit classroom block at Lashibi and Adjei-Kojo, including the construction of a fence wall at Lashibi, Baatsona and Kotobabi.

Mrs. Amoako said other projects awarded on contracts included the construction of two-storey health directorate office complex at Sakumono, two-storey 12-unit classroom block at Kotobabi School Complex, community library at Community 14, three-unit classroom block, renovation of existing blocks at Mangoase Daycare Centre, construction of boys’ dormitory for the Community Day SHS (E-Block) at Community 14, among others.

She pointed out that the assembly had completed the Klagon TMA Junior High School (JHS), Old Lashibi Primary/Old Lashibi JHS, Star Primary/JHS at Community 5, and Tetteh Ocloo State for the Deaf.

“The assembly will soon open an additional senior high school at Sakumono (E-Block) to enhance education in the municipality,” she said.

Touching on revenue mobilization, the MCE said the assembly set a revenue target of GH¢17,530,874.39, adding that the assembly had been able to realize GH?4,178,871, representing IGF, with GH¢2,136,792.24 for grants, representing a 36.03 per cent for the year.

She mentioned that through the GAMA projects, a contract has been awarded for a box culvert drainage works at Kanawu Letap area, Adjei-Kojo Top Oil, drain construction to link Communities 5 and 6 around the Crismon Hotel and construction of a box culvert from celebrity Golf Park to link Sakumono.

She added that the assembly had been undertaking some grading and soft improvement works at Adjei-Kojo, Sun City, Global Station Borteiman, Kanawu Station roads, Lashibi Community 17 Assemblies of God Green FM roads, Timber Market Banxy School area roads and some selected inner roads in Communities 2, 5 and Sakumono.

The MCE said the assembly had also awarded contracts for the dualisation of Nungua Barrier to Tema Community 3 road, surfacing of some selected roads in Communities 2 and 5 inner roads, including the SSNIT flat road.
