Tems Responds To Pregnancy Rumours

Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has addressed the swirling rumours suggesting she was pregnant for American rapper Future.

The speculation began last year after she appeared at Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 show at London Fashion Week in a black dress paired with a purple fluffy coat, which led many to believe she might be expecting.

During a recent appearance on the popular radio show, The Breakfast Club, Tems humorously questioned why Future was singled out in the pregnancy rumours.

“People just take the most controversial things. Because I was thinking like, why am I pregnant for Future? Why Future? Because that’s the craziest,” she remarked.

She further joked about the speculation, wondering why other prominent figures she has worked with, such as Nigerian singer Wizkid or Canadian rapper Drake, weren’t mentioned.

“Why not Wizkid? Why not Drake? Why not somebody else? If it was Drake, it would be the same thing, but the reason why it is Future is because of his reputation,” she added, referencing Future’s well-known image as a “ladies’ man” with several children.

In the same interview, Tems discussed the rap artistes who have influenced her music career, naming Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Ab-Soul, Andre 3000, and J. Cole as key inspirations.

Notably, Tems collaborated with Drake on his 2021 Certified Lover Boy album and included J. Cole as one of the two featured artistes on her debut album Born In The Wild, released earlier this year.

Tems’ lighthearted response to the rumours reflects her growing prominence in both African and international music scenes, as well as her sense of humour in handling media speculation.
