Certificate of recognition presented to the panelists
African foremost PR and rating firm, Avance Media in collaboration with the institute of directors, has announced the first Top 100 Ghana’s Women Board Directors list for 2023.
The initiative was to recognise and honor the exceptional contribution of women who have demonstrated exemplary leadership, innovation and impact within their respective industries.
Founder of Advance media, Prince Akpah said the awards underscored the effort of Ghanaian companies in championing gender diversity within their leadership structures.
“The top 100 Ghana Women Board Directors list is a testament to the remarkable achievement of women leaders who continue to pave the way for others, their dedicated, expertise and impact are instrumental in shaping the future of corporate leadership in Ghana,” he said.
Media General was recognized as the best gender-inclusive Board (private), while Exim Bank Ghana and Ghana Revenue Authority clinched the best Gender inclusive boards (public).
A panel discussion on the pivotal role of women in board leadership had an esteem panelist including  Board chair of Old Mutual Ghana, Ellen Amarquaye president and council chair of the institute of Directors Ghana, Rev. Mrs. Angela Carmen Appiah, and the CEO of Acreaty Ghana, Elsie Appau-Klu sharing insight on the importance of women’s contributions to effective corporate governance.
Madam Appau-Klu, advised that, “if we want to increase the participation of women on boards of directors then we should be opened to ensure that we have given space to people to grow properly. I will say that it is voluntary but compulsory for businesses to ensure the inclusion women.”
Rev. Mrs. Appiah also indicated that, even thou Ghana is leading on the global front, “we are not too happy looking at the cake and the distribution but we are very hopeful in the sense that it is appreciable and we can build from there.”
