True Hustlers Are Parley Tug-Of-War Champs

Massive crowd and a healthy rivalry characterized the maiden Parley Tug-of-War competition at the Mamprobi/ Chorkor cluster of schools on Sunday.

Dubbed ‘Who Rules Chorkor’?, it  is an initiative of the Ghana Tug-of-War Association in conjunction with Dreamland Sports Plus. It attracted the young and old who witnessed raw natural talents from the combatants.

Eight teams participated and it was Chorkor-based True Hustlers who subdued their opponents; after demonstrating great physique to emerge winners.

It was Aala Button that placed second, while Young Tinny placed third. They took home fantastic prizes from the sponsors- Parle, Indomie, Voltic, Melcom, St. Thomas Hospital and Namio.

Other participants were Alomo Junction, United Nations (UN), Heroes Champions, Premier Soldiers and Ashaiman 37.

Deputy Director General (Technical) of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Saka Acquaye, urged the gathering to take sports seriously since opportunities abound in the field.

Emmanuel Olla Williams of the Ghana Tug of War Association and CEO of Dreamland Sports Plus said   such programs keep people together and make them healthy.

He promised to extend the competition to other communities.

The Youth Director of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), hinted that Tug of War which was a former Olympic sports is being considered to be returned to the Olympic disciplines.

The next Olympic Games comes off in 2020 in Tokyo, Japan.
