Trust Hospital Closes for Fumigation

The Trust Hospital, which provides healthcare to the staff of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSINT) and members of the public, has closed its Osu branch for fumigation.

The closure was necessitated after some workers came into contact with two patients who tested positive for Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Accordingly the medical staff including doctors, nurses, and non-medical staff have been asked to go into self isolation while they await their test results from Noguchi.

The two patients who had been on admission at the hospital for over a week were later tested for Covid-19 when they started showing symptoms associated with the disease.

Sources say one of the patients was in a private ward, while the other shared a ward with several others, forcing the institution to quarantine everyone who may have come into contact during their admission period.

A notice announcing the closure of the facility to the public, said other branches of the hospital are still open for business.

The hospital management is also urging clients to call the telemedicine helpline to speak to a doctor or order a prescription until work resumes on Monday May 11.

The fumigation exercise is scheduled for May 9 and May 10.
