Sena Atsugah and Julius Quansah Performing On StageĀ
The 2017 edition of Tuumatu Festival will take place in various locations in James Town, a suburb of Accra on Saturday December 16 and Sunday December 17.
Music groups lined up to perform include Ayekoo Drummers, Weku Kronkron Band, Indigenous Afrik and Soul Winners.
They are scheduled to light up this rather lively neighbourhood with diverse performances that will captivate the expected huge crowds.
Two contemporary dancers from the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana ā Sena Atsugah and Julius Yaw Quansahā will delight fans with a freshly choreographed piece, while Bachir Tassembebo (Belgium) and Jean Robert Koudogbo Kiki (Burkina Faso) will equally showcase a contemporary dance piece titled āAcceptez Leā.
The National Dance Company, Puff Dance Crew and others will also entertain dance lovers with a series of traditional, contemporary and street dances. Australia-based acrobat Emmanuel Laryea alongside Murphy Yoga Atadam (Nigeria) will perform acrobatic drills, while the Abrokwa Bicycle Crew will capture the imagination of the audience.
Tuumatu Festival, which was founded by Emmanuel Laryea, is aimed at bringing people together across the generations to reinvigorate the learning and playing of childhood games and reconnect them to their history and culture.
It is also targeted at showcasing local talent artistic of the James Town community by collaborating with local independent/international artists, choreographers as well as dance and music companies and art organisations.
