The 2026 KGL Foundation U-17 Inter-Regional Colts Championship has been officially launched at a ceremony held at KGL House in Labone on Friday, October 2.
The launch brought together Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, KGL Foundation representatives and key stakeholders in juvenile football.
Also in attendance were GFA Executive Council members Nana Sarfo Oduro, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo, Fred Acheampong, Dr Gifty Oware-Mensah, Kingsley Osei Bonsu, Gideon Fosu and Eugene Nobel Noel.
Four Regional Football Association chairmen were present, including Alhaji Salifu Zida of Upper East, Dr Charles Osei Anto, Osei Tutu Agyemang of Ashanti and Simon Ehomah of Western Region.
The championship, now in its sixth edition, will feature the best U-17 players selected from Regional Colts competitions across the country.
The tournament is designed to identify and develop young talents for the national U-17 side, the Black Starlets, while providing players with a competitive platform to showcase their abilities.
Speaking at the launch, KGL Foundation Director Christian Salamouni reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to youth development through sports, while GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku expressed appreciation for the Foundation’s continued investment in grassroots football.
As part of its support, the KGL Foundation presented 50 sets of training markers, 300 size-five footballs, 640 jerseys, 640 pairs of football socks and 96 medals.
The competition will also feature trophies and medals for the top three teams, alongside individual awards for the Golden Glove, Goal King and Most Valuable Player.
The 2026 edition is scheduled to kick off on Sunday, October 4, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
