A 30-year-old Uber driver is battling for his life after surviving a machete attack by a passenger at Barekese, in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
The victim, identified as Kwadwo Antwi, reportedly picked up the passenger at Abrepo Junction in Kumasi on Sunday evening, August 31, and headed towards Barekese. Along the way, the passenger suddenly launched an attack on Antwi with a machete.
According to the victim’s father, Master Alex, the suspect slashed Antwi’s hand and lap before he managed to unfasten his seatbelt and flee for his life.
The assailant allegedly pushed Antwi out of the car and sped off with the Toyota Vitz with registration number AS 7104-22.
Fortunately, Antwi was rescued and rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he is responding to treatment.
Police have since launched investigations to track down the suspect and recover the stolen vehicle.
