The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has launched its eCampus, an online learning platform that will allow working professionals both home and abroad to earn masters and doctoral qualifications without leaving their jobs or relocating.
The platform, unveiled as Professor Denis Worlanyo Aheto assumed office as Vice-Chancellor, will offer MBA, MSc, DBA and PhD programmes.
The initial offerings cover business management, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, finance, healthcare management, human resource management, monitoring and evaluation, project management, supply chain and logistics, and sustainability and governance.
“Education is the most reliable engine of progress we have, for individuals and for nations. UCC eCampus ensures that engine is available to more people, professionals with responsibilities, families and careers who nonetheless carry the ambition to do more,” Prof. Aheto said at the launch.
He indicated that the eCampus falls within his vision of making higher education more accessible adding that an adhoc committee was constituted to examine the proposal and provide valuable insights in the policy adding, “I want to commend the committee that led the process for a good job done.”
“Today marks the beginning of a very bold and transformative initiative for postgraduate education. This will usher us in a new era of education and keep UCC’s level as the best university in Ghana and Africa,” he stated.
UCC aims to enroll the first cohort in October 2026 and GTEC has given approval with the signing taking place in March.
According to the University, students will access lectures, learning materials, assignments, assessments, and faculty engagement through a structured digital environment.
The University said the same academic standards applied to on-campus postgraduate programmes will apply to the eCampus.
Target
The programmes target graduates and professionals seeking promotion, specialist expertise, or qualifications for senior roles. The platform is designed to accommodate students with full-time jobs and other responsibilities.
UCC developed the platform in partnership with Astria Learning, an education technology company that builds and operates online campuses for universities across Africa.
“The professionals this platform serves don’t need convincing that education matters; they need a way to pursue it that fits the reality of their lives,” said Dr. Jeff Bordes, Chief Executive Officer of Astria Learning.
“That is what we have built with the University of Cape Coast, a learning experience designed around the working professional, not the other way around.
“Beyond Ghana, eCampus will target professionals elsewhere in Africa and Ghanaians in the diaspora who want a postgraduate qualification from one of the country’s leading public universities.
Established in 1962, the University of Cape Coast has a record in teaching, research and professional education.
