An eleven-member advance team of the 2026 Hajj operations has departed for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The departure which is ahead of the commencement of this year’s pilgrimage is intended to ensure that adequate preparations for logistics, transportation, catering, accommodation, health and related arrangements are met.

Such pre-Hajj arrangement as a routine procedure will ensure that the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana’s (PAOG) checklists are carried out to the letter and in tandem with its agenda.

The medical team as part of the advance group is made up of two doctors, two senior nurses and two related medical staff.

The team will ensure that the welfare of pilgrims in especially these important stations in the Hajj are met: the Tent City of Mina, Madina, Mecca and Arafat.

The pilgrimage entails transportation between the major stations making the entire rituals.

At the various stations, the medical team especially pitches camp to provide attention to the sick.

Search-and-return to base tasks are also carried out by the taskforce because cases of pilgrims getting lost is a normal occurrence during this annual event entailing over three million persons from all over the world.
