The University of Law in UK, has recently organized a networking event where it had engagements with the business and law fraternity in Ghana as part of its scope to providing professional and postgraduate legal education to Ghanaian students. The event which saw the Regional Director, Africa of the Global University Systems (GUS) representing the University of Law in the person of Mercy Akanimo run a brief presentation on the University and the wide range of opportunities available to lawyers as well as non-lawyers. She projected the university’s rich history spanning over a hundred years and having trained over 80,000 alumni including very prominent people such as the current mayor of London.
The event which was put together by their representative here in Ghana saw top business executives, lawyers as well as managing partners of many Law firms in Ghana in attendance. The University of Law further spoke about its capacity as an avenue for students to further their academic pursuit in law and business.
Some representatives of the institution who interacted with the media, reiterated the need to further affirm Ghana’s cause to broaden legal education thus, make the study attractive to all.
Addressing the legal stakeholders and students, the Regional Director of Global University system representing the University of Law Mercy Akanimo stated the potential opportunities available for students admitted into the University.
“I do understand that there is a bit of a challenge in terms of the number of students tying to access the Ghana School of Law at Makola, our institution offers students an opportunity to accelerate that space and enable them have access to the Ghana School of Law; so, if students complete our standardized procedure, they are exempted from the initial assessment to join the Ghana School of Law” through the Post-Call route she stated.
Also speaking at the event, Professor at the University of Professional Studies Goski Alabi revealed that her daughter is currently a student of the University of Law and has garnered scores of experiences and guidance to fit the working space.
“I think the University of Law is a great school, it has the background experience and the resources and social network that it takes to prepare students for the world of work. My daughter is a student here and the kind of experience and guidance that she has gotten in a very short while is phenomenal” she told the media.
The United Kingdom’s largest law school ‘University of Law’ founded in 1962 as the College of Law of England and Wales is a for-profit private university in the United Kingdom, providing law degrees, specialist legal training and continuing professional development courses for British barristers and solicitors. It serves as an avenue for students to further their academic pursuit in law and business.
