UPSA’s Prof Okoe, Rev Wyns- Dogbe Shine At CIMG Awards

VICE CHANCELLOR of the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), Prof Abednego Okoe Feehi Amartey, and the Managing Director of SIC Life, Dr Rev Elizabeth Wyns-Dogbe were adjudged Marketing Man and Woman of the Year respectively at the 2019 edition of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Awards.

The two were among some four personalities who were recognised in Accra on Friday, September 27, 2019, at the 30th edition of the Marketing Performance awards scheme which was held under theme – “Celebrating 30 years of Promoting Marketing Excellence: Synergies for the Future”.

Chief Marketing Officer of Scancom PLC, Noel Kojo Ganson was adjudged the Marketing Practitioner of the Year, while the Marketing Manager of Silver Star, Rosalind Korkor Adzimahe was named the Marketing Student of the year.

The night also had other corporate institutions recognised within five other categories that included CIMG Hall of Fame, Business, Products, Not-For-Profit Organisation and Media. 

New entrants for this year’s Hall of Fame were Africa World Airline and GOIL which was among the CIMG 30th Anniversary Legacy Brand and a recipient of the Marketing Oriented Organisation Award.

Special Awards were presented to Ghana Post GPS and the Methodist Girls Senior High School for their exploits in the World Robotics Competition earlier this year.

In all, there were nine segments within the business category of the award that were not awarded based on merit.

Outgoing national president of CIMG, Kojo Mattah, disclosed that organisers of the awards did not intend to compromise on the quality of the awards and for that reason urged participants to strictly adhere to key elements of marketing excellence in their endeavours.

He explained that the technical committee have struck out what he called ‘the first-past-the-post’ winning formula where any entry with highest score wins an award but rather he indicated that “to win an award, the entry must score not less than 50 per cent for every category”.

The Kyedomhene of Assin Juaben of the Assin Atandensu Traditional Council, Nana Akogyei Yeboah I, who was the special guest of honour urged corporate institutions to religious adhere to standards set by CIMG, as implementation of those standards would beyond the awards scheme, inure to progression of enterprises.
