THE MANHYIA Government Hospital in Kumasi has taken delivery of assorted medical consumables to help it render quality services to its patients.

The donation was made possible following the kind intervention of Mission 195, an NGO-based in Virginia in the United States.

It was the president of the Council of Zongo Chiefs in the Ashanti Region, Naba Musah Akambonga, on behalf of the hospital, who solicited for support from the donors.

Among the items presented included surgical masks, surgical gloves, surgical gowns, oxygen masks, sodium chloride injection, vascular closure system and baby shampoo.

The rest were surgical tapes, wound drainage device, infection control foley catheter tray, cuffed tracheal tubes, dual dispersive electrodes, suture, patient gowns, among others.

Naba Musah Akambonga, who doubles as the Frafra Chief of Kumasi, explained that it had always been his wish to contribute to the growth of the Manyia Government Hospital.

“I was born and bred at New Zongo, near the Manhyia Government Hospital and this medical facility has been our only source for immediate medical attention and care for so many years,” he said, adding “my son Kamel and his friend, Mr. Osman, own an NGO, Mission 195, in Virginia, US, and they have freely been supplying medical consumables to hospitals in Ghana and other parts of the world.”

“I, therefore, contacted them for help for the Manhyia Government Hospital and that has led to today’s donation. I am grateful to the donors because government cannot do it alone,” he said.

Dr. Gladys Abban, the Nurse Manager, Manhyia Government Hospital, said the donated items would go a long way to help the hospital deliver on its mandate, saying “we are grateful to Mission 195.”
