Ghanaian actor, Vicent Amponsah popularly known as Kimpo in the local movie industry, has called on the stakeholders in the local movie industry to use the social media including Facebook to promote local movies to the world.
According to him, the local movie industry needed to use new technologies such as the social media to exhibit, and market their films to the world.
The actor encouraged the players in the local movie industry to use movies to promote the country and its rich culture to the world.
He urged movie stake holders to promote and facilitate co-production between local and foreign producers as part of measures to promote local movies.
He however, expressed a need for local movie makers to lift up their game to rock with the best in the international scene, adding that even though the African continent has a lot of potentials in movie making, Ghanaian movie industry players are not really taking advantage of it.
He was optimistic that if only Ghanaian movie makers take their destiny into their own hands and change slightly, the quality of their movies will not only cross over into Hollywood but will make an impact there.
According to him, Ghana must improve their stories and make them universal so that other people in other countries can relate to them.
