POPULAR FASHION Designer and Entrepreneur, Veekee James, has sparked conversation online after calling out what she described as growing entitlement culture, following a fan’s request for ₦2 million to pay school fees.

The designer, who shared her frustration on Snapchat, said she was left in shock by the message from the user. “There’s something wrong somewhere. In what way have I portrayed myself to make somebody think they can randomly ask me to help with ₦2,000,000 for school fees? I’m a struggling fatherless child who now has a child,” Veekee said.

She explained that while she often responds to smaller requests from fans, the ₦2 million demand crossed a line. “Normally, what I see is, ‘Help me with ₦20k, ₦50k, ₦100k.’ I still dey say, ‘Okay, okay,’ the one wey I fit help, I help. ₦2,000,000 for school fees? Which school you dey go? (sic)” she asked.

Veekee James rose to fame through her bridal and couture brand, and has been vocal about her humble beginnings as a fatherless child who worked hard to build her business.

Her post has since triggered debate on social media, with many netizens agreeing that celebrities are often wrongly assumed to be “ATMs” for every financial problem.
