Veep Convoy In Accident

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s convoy was involved in an accident at Asemasa, near Beposo on the Takoradi-Cape Coast Highway last Saturday.

The Vice President was returning to Accra after celebrating the birthday of Prophet Mohammed with the Muslims in the Western Region in Sekondi when the accident happened.

According to a statement signed by the Spokesperson to the Vice President, Gideon Boako, the Vice President escaped unhurt in the motor accident that occurred around 6:30pm on Saturday.

The statement indicated that the driver of a commercial vehicle, which was also involved in the accident, unfortunately passed on.

“Some other passengers and security persons who were injured were conveyed to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital and are responding to treatment,” the statement added.

The Vice President is a toast of members of the Islamic community across the country when they are celebrating the birthday of Holy Prophet.

He has obliged many requests for his presence at such occasions even before the New Patriotic Party (NPP) assumed office.

His arrival at the Takoradi engagement lifted the spirits of fellow Muslims, especially as he participated in the religious proceedings.

On Sunday he was reported to have proceeded for an official engagement in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua where the Majority Caucus in Parliament is meeting.
