The maiden edition of the Ghana Film and Television Crew Awards (GFTCA) came off last Saturday, with Viasat1 winning two awards in the television category.
The awards are Best Entertainment Show Crew for Celebrity Fanzone and Best Morning Show Crew for This Morning.
The event was also used to honour some key players and stakeholders in the film and television industry. Film veterans such as Kwaw Ansah, Abbey Quaye, and Rev Dr Atsu Hesse received recognition for their immense contribution to the Ghana film industry.
Samuel Whyte received the Best Production Assistant, Silvia Tettehfio for best Continuity, while Haruna Seidu won the award for Best Location Manager. Peter Avettey emerged the Overall Best Crew member for 2016.
The GFTC Awards is the brainchild of the Film and Television Crew Association, headed by Samuel Gyandoh, who doubles as the president of the GFTCA.
Samuel Gyandoh said although organising the awards had been challenging, they would commit everything they can to make it an annual event.
