Visiting Police Woman Killed In Bawku

Information available to DGN Online indicates that a policewoman attached to the Paga Police Station on a visit to Bawku in the Upper East Region has reportedly been gunned down by unknown assailants.

Constable Regina Angenu on Saturday, January 22, 2022 around 5:05pm paid a visit to Constable Erasmus Enkson at the Bawku Division of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service.

They were attacked on their way to Constable Enkson’s barracks by unknown assailants and the police woman was shot in the groin.

She was rushed to the Presbyterian Mission Hospital for treatment but unfortunately she died.

Her body has been deposited at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

However, no additional information was heard on the condition of Constable Enkson.

There were reports of sporadic fatal shootings in the conflict-prone town of Bawku over the weekend, forcing a curfew to be imposed by the Interior Ministry.

Police therefore beefed up security in Bawku as a result of the shooting incidents.
