The regional executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region have declared their full support for Mr. Freddie Blay, a contender for national chairman in the upcoming national elections of the party.

The regional chairman, Makafui Woanyah, flanked by his executives stressed that “the entire regional executives of the NPP in the Volta Region wish to state without any shred of doubt that we give our absolute support to the candidature of Mr. Freddie Blay as the next national chairman of the NPP.”

They have therefore called on all executives in the 26 constituencies of the region who have already endorsed Freddie Blay’s candidature to seal it with massive votes at the Koforidua Congress – venue for the elections.

“We again by this same measure of support wish to call on all executives of the 26 constituencies to do same by voting massively for Freddie Blay come 6th – 7th July when we will converge in Koforidua, the regional capital of the Eastern Region for the national election.”

The regional executives made the endorsement at Hohoe during a press conference addressed by the regional chairman, Makafui Woanyah. He was aided by the regional secretary, Joseph Homenya, and other executives.

According to them, Mr. Blay has proven beyond all reasonable doubt that he is capable and has what it takes to lead the party to retain power in 2020.

Key among his exploits is the fact that “he (Freddie Blay) proved to the then demoralised and hopeless patriots of our tradition that with determination and the ‘can do spirit’, we could rock the boat safely to the shores; we now pride ourselves as the most popular political party in the country, having recaptured power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with a landslide victory.”

More so, reforms led by him are what stabilised and made then opposition NPP a united force ready for action.

Furthermore, they acknowledged “Freddie Blay’s personal support to the development of Volta Region and for that matter NPP in general” which they described as unmatched.

Mr. Woanyah who was regional organiser prior to the 2016 elections recounted how Freddie Blay donated two pick-up trucks and ensured prompt and adequate supply of resources towards the elections in the region.

All these and many more are the reasons why the regional and constituency executives have endorsed him. For them, a vote for Blay is a vote for a better NPP and victory in 2020.

“A political party that fails to recognise the unflinching support and profound effort of Acting Chairman Blay and now aspiring national chairman Freddie Blay is not worth dying for,” he said.

They concluded by saying, “We can only say at this juncture, ladies and gentlemen, that Freddie Blay has done what Napoleon could not do. We are therefore confident that when we give him the chance to lead the NPP towards the next election, he will not disappoint us.”

Also in attendance were constituency chairmen of the party in the region. Prior to this endorsement, the constituencies had also endorsed Mr. Blay.
