In the Ho West Constituency, a total of 54,453 people are expected to vote across 146 polling stations in the constituency.
Queues started forming as early as 6 am at some of the polling stations as the residents took a step to partake in the process of electing a new President and a Member of Parliament.
Some of the polling stations visited saw scores of people voting, while others waited for the turn.
One thing that cuts across the polling stations visited is that the verification machines are working, with no need for a manual verification so far.
Some of the Presiding Officers who spoke to us indicated that the process has been running as expected, with no incidents recorded.
Paul Mawuenyegah, a presiding officer at the Dzolokpuita E.P Primary B polling station told Daily Guide Online that the process has been smooth so far.
Ho West is one of the 18 constituencies in the Volta region and it shares a common boundary with the Ho Municipality to the South.
It is one of the Constituencies in the Volta Region which shares a border with Togo and has fertile lands suitable for the cultivation of food crops like roots and tubers, cereals such as rice and maize, as well vegetables and legumes.
The Constituency is currently represented by Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah of the NDC who has been re-elected since his first election in the 2008 Parliamentary election.
In the 2020 Presidential election, President Akufo-Addo, the then candidate of the NPP won a total of 5,468 votes in the constituency while former President John Mahama won 33,261 votes.
But the NPP is hopeful of doing better in the constituency with party executives in the arear hopeful they could double that figure.
Mr. Bedzrah won the 2020 election with 28,583, votes, while the NPP’s then-candidate, David Togbe Nfodjo got 10,096, the highest any party other than the NDC has ever gotten in the Constituency.
