The prestigious trade and industry exhibition, Water Africa & West Africa Building and Construction will mark its 25th anniversary in Ghana at their event to be opened by Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Dapaah, Minister of Sanitation & Water Resources in Accra on Wednesday,26th June, 2019, at 10.00am at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel, Accra.
The event which is scheduled to run from 26-28 June, 2019 will include seminars to be handled by experts in water, sanitation, building and construction industry to run alongside the exhibition. The first two days of the seminar programme and entry to the exhibition are free.
The Water Seminar on 26 June, to be chaired by Dr Joseph Addo Ampofo, former director of the CSIR-Water Research Institute, will look, among many interesting topics, at progress towards Sustainable Development Goals, Water Management, Rural Water and Sanitation, and techniques to improve water and sanitation projects.
Ms Vera Mills -Odoi, Project Director – YIEDIE (Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment) will open and chair the Building & Construction seminar on 27 June and give a presentation on “Mentoring for Positive Youth Workforce in Construction – A 21st Century approach.
The programme will also include financing infrastructure projects, development control, sustainable solutions for both urban and rural housing, and excellence in green design.
As part of the seminar program, is a prestigious paid for CPD course by Professor Bob Andoh on “Addressing Flooding and Urban Water Challenges for Integrated Urban Water Management”. After the CPD course, the Herrenknecht Seminar on Trenchless Installation Methods for Utility Installations will be held in the afternoon for which attendance will be free of charge.
Places will be available to enable interested practitioners in the Water & Wastewater and Building & Construction sectors to take part in the seminar programmes, which will be run in co-ordination with the Ministry of Water Resources, Works & Housing.
The government has been a big supporter of this ever more popular event since its beginnings in the 1990s and has always offered enthusiastic ministerial support, particularly with the programme of seminars that accompanies the trade exhibition. Organisers ACE Event Management will be looking back over 25 years working in Ghana, beginning with the company’s first event at the Labadi Beach Hotel in April 1994.
The event aims “to create a two-way flow of information for visitors and participants which will help them to analyse their sector needs more precisely and set in place the necessary steps for expansion and improvement in these important areas,” according to Mrs Tracey Nolan-Shaw, ACE Managing Director.
