‘We Have A Duty To Talk About Gov’t’s Good Works‘

Some Regional Executive members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region, have called on members of the party in the 16 constituencies not to hide because of false propaganda from their opponents.

The party leaders addressing some party members and supporters at the Agric Park at Zuarungu, admitted that times are hard and many Ghanaians are struggling to make ends meet, yet the government has not given up on executing developmental projects across the country so that when the economy gets better communities will not be found lagging.

Over the weekend, the Bolgatanga East Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party held a peaceful Health Walk through some streets in the constituency. The Regional Executives present for the event included the Regional Organizer, Charles Taleog Ndanbon, Regional Secretary, Elvis Figo Awonekai, and Youth Organizer, Musah Salahu-deen.

According to Bolgatanga East Constituency Executives, the health walk was among some activities the party had lined up to unite the party members and functionaries in the area, to attract new members, and to talk about the good things that the government is doing in the constituency and the country, in the face of global economic challenges.

A member of the party and native of the Bolgatanga East District, Mathew Silas Amoah, who was mentioned as the main sponsor of the event, said the NPP and any other party by itself is just a name, but the activities and contributions of functionaries, the members, and supporters are what make it strong or weak parties.

“So, we all must identify something we can do to improve the image and membership of our party. We all must tell our communities what the government is doing. This government is still running the Free SHS program, Agenda 111 is going on across the country at the same time, and there are activities to boost the economy. There are still road projects and water and electricity extensions to communities and villages that hitherto did not have.

So much is being done, but we have allowed negative propaganda to rather spread. They are only trying to make Ghanaians believe that the government is not doing anything, just to satisfy their selfish interests.”

According to Mathew Silas Amoah, he only sponsored the event because he is a party member who is endowed and thought it was time to give back to the party at a time the constituency needs his contribution.

Asked if the event was a way to announce his interest in contesting the Constituency Primaries when the time comes, Mr. Amoah said, “…that is not my intention, I did what I had to do to help my party. I have seen people wearing my T’Shirts and waving banners calling me to come and contest; I have seen them, and I take it as a call. I will consult widely and if it happens to be a genuine call to serve, then I may consider, but for now, I am only making a harmless contribution to a worthy course.”
