The Municipal Chief Executive of the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly, Nii Boye Laryea says his office is resolute to deliver on its mandate in spite of the global economic difficulties that affected the development drive of some municipal assemblies.

Speaking in an interview on the sidelines with the DAILY GUIDE at a carol service held last Friday at the forecourt of the Assembly at Tesano in Accra, he said though some projects started by the Assembly from 2019 were still under construction due to the global economic challenges that also affected local development drive from 2021, he was optimistic that those projects would be completed before the end of his tenure.

Among the projects he mentioned within the Assembly which in his view were 70 percent complete include an office complex at Achimota, a hospital at the Christian Village, an ICT Centre at the Tesano Cluster of Schools and some road projects.

He said that apart from some physical infrastructure that are yet to be completed, Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) with the support of stakeholders however embarked on various initiatives to ensure the municipality continuously remain peaceful as well as clean at all times.

The maiden edition of the Nine Lessons and Carols organised by the Assembly was characterised by music, dance and Bible readings that reminded the gathering of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The MCE and other dignitaries could not hold their joy as the Okaikwei Municipal Assembly choir, as well as the Judicial Service Choir and the Methodist Church Choir thrilled them with songs such as ‘Asem Papa Bia Mate Oye’, ‘Long Time Ago In Bethlehem’ to usher them into the Christmas season.

Minister of the Methodist Church, Very Rev. Bernard Ato Wilson, in a sermon said though the story of Jesus Christ was told many years ago, He continues to remain relevant at all times.

He, therefore, admonished Christians to eschew all forms of negative practices and be worthy ambassadors who portray the relevance of Jesus Christ in their lives irrespective of the situation they found themselves.

Also present were traditional leaders including Abeka Dzasetse, Nii Ansah Duodu III, Assembly members, residents, Management Member and Chief News Editor of the DAILY GUIDE, A. R. Gomda and several others.
