Wearing of Smock Banned In Bawku

The Upper West Regional Security Council has banned the wearing of smock in the Bawku Municipality.

This follows the decision taken by REGSEC during an emergency meeting held recently in Bawku Township.

According to the REGSEC, the move was necessitated by the fact that criminals or unscrupulous elements hide arms and ammunition in smocks and attack opponents or innocent civilians.

The REGSEC warned that all persons living in Bawku Township are to take note of the directive and comply until further notice.

In a statement, issued and signed by the Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu, the Council said it would ensure the directive is enforced and anyone who fails to comply would be dealt with accordingly.
