‘We’ll Break 8-Year Jinx’

Okatakyie Amankwaa Afrifa

A WESTERN Regional Secretary hopeful of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Okatakyie Amankwaa Afrifa, says party members are poised to work hard for the NPP to win the next general elections and make history by ‘breaking the 8’.

He said this is also evidenced by the many party activists yearning to contest the various polling station executive positions countrywide.

“I join the party’s fraternity in wishing all members running in the first phase of our internal elections, the polling station elections, the best of luck,” he said.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, Mr. Afrifa, popularly called ‘OKT’, said in enforcing Articles 5 and 6 of the NPP Constitution, the party members in the region should adhere to the rules and regulations guiding the elections.

He said this will ensure a smooth flow of the elections devoid of violence and attacks.

“Let us demonstrate through this first phase of our internal elections that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government has satisfied the mandate and that indeed, NPP deserves another term,” he pointed out.

The NPP recently released its timetable for the election of its local and national executives across the country.

The nominations for the polling station executives’ elections started on February 19, 2022, and will end on February 29, 2022.

Vetting of prospective aspirants started on February 22, 2022, and will end on February 24, 2022, while the conduct of the election will be between February 25, 2022, and March 5, 2022.
