We Will Delete Nana’s Name – Chiefs

Some chiefs in the Asuogyaman Traditional Authority in the Eastern Region have stated that they will soon perform rituals for the image of the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to disappear from the ballot paper on December 7.

According to three traditional rulers led by the acting President of the Akwamu Traditional Council, Osuogyasonu Yaw Boadu I, who openly declared their support for President Mahama’s re-election, “It’s sad that Asuogyaman constituency cannot boast of even one minister or a deputy. We are pleading with JM and assuring him that as we visit our ‘dark room’ for the sacred ritual, we are going to pour libation to delete the picture of the NPP flag bearer from the ballot paper so come December, those who decide to vote for him do not even find him. The only image they will see will be that of John Mahama’s.”

“We the chiefs have a ritual we perform every 40 days. Anyone who is familiar with our customs will know that it’s called ‘Adae.’ During this ritual, what we do in the stool house and at the palace is to take stock of the good things happening in the country and ask the nation to continue,” he maintained.

The chief, who made these known when addressing National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters at Asuogyaman, noted that the amount of developments they have witnessed only makes it clear that President Mahama must be re-elected.

The chiefs, who are from Akwamu, Anum and Boso, asked the president to pay their compensations in respect of the construction of the Akosombo dam.

President John Dramani Mahama in a remark said the challenging times in the country were over. He pointed to other countries that went through challenging times and explained that he had to take some difficult decisions.
