I Will Keep My Promises – Nana Addo

Nana Addo in handshake with some of the chiefs

The President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has assured Ghanaians that he will fulfill all the promises he made to them during the electioneering campaign.

An election is a pact between those who vote and those they vote for, and my government would keep its part of the pact by keeping all the promises, Nana Addo added.

He noted that Ghanaians, who voted for the NPP in the December polls, want to be treated with dignity.

Nana Addo disclosed this while addressing enthusiastic chiefs and people in Ho, the Volta Regional capital during a durbar to congratulate the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV on his election as the President of the National House of Chiefs.

The president-elect said his administration would treat Ghanaians, who abhor impunity and corruption with dignity.

Thanks Volta Region

He thanked the chiefs and people of the Volta Region for the support they gave to the NPP in the December polls, adding that although the results from the region fell short of the target of the party, they were far better than those of previous elections.

Prior to the elections, the NPP focused on the Volta Region, which is the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in order to make appreciable gains.

The NPP targeted three parliamentary seats and 30 percent of the total votes cast in the region but managed to obtain one seat and 18 percent of the total votes as compared to 12 percent in 2012.

In spite of this, Nana Addo said the results were unprecedented and expressed the hope that his government would collaborate with the people to develop the country’s economy.

“The last time I was here I came to ask for your support to become President of the Republic of Ghana. By the Grace of the Almighty God, our country has voted peacefully and with dignity Ghana has once again become the toast of the world, he added.

He congratulated Togbe Afede on his election as the President of the National House of Chiefs and pledged to work closely with the chieftaincy institution to enhance the governance of the country.

Togbe Afede, who is also a renowned business magnate, noted that chiefs in the country require developmental projects after the elections.

He pledged to collaborate with the President-elect Nana Addo to bring prosperity to Ghanaians.
The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State called on Nana Addo to support him to develop the chieftaincy institution in the country to ensure the socio-economic development of the country.
