Women In Gospel Music Marks 10 Years

The Women In Gospel Music (WIGM), a group made up of female gospel artistes in the country, will on Sunday, November 26, 2023 host a musical concert at the Fountain Gate Chapel (Bless Pastures) at Olebu in Accra.

The concert dubbed ‘10th Anniversary Gratitude Concert’ is being organised to celebrate the 10th anniversary of WIGM.

It is an expression of gratitude to God for His grace and mercies extended to its members and their ministries during the year.

The concert also seeks to celebrate the hard work of gospel minstrels who have contributed to the gospel industry and ministry through music and Christian morals over the decades.

It will be one electrifying worship moment where women as well as music fans will be drawn closer to God through pure worship.

Prominent gospel performers like Diana Hopeson, Pastor Tina Tachie-Menson, Abena Ruthy, Rev. Helen Yawson, Rev. Mary Ghansah, Augustina Addison will be present. Unlike previous years when only the women mounted the stage to thrill fans, the legendary Elder Mireku will be present to lead patrons in an undiluted worship.

Patrons who are able to attend the event will be treated to a number of inspirational songs from all the artistes scheduled to perform.

BEATWAVES learned that Rev. Dr. Mary Ghansah formed WIGM in 2013 with the help of a few women. “We now have more than 500 members.

“We are present in Greater Accra, Ashanti, BA, Central, Western, Volta, and Eastern regions,” stated WIGM President Abena Ruthy.

According to her, “We have chapters in the USA and Italy and members who live overseas.  We have generational groups that span the several times in which people achieve success in the profession.”
