WR Businesses Receive Paa Grant Awards

The Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) is poised to coordinate and implement strategic events to help open new avenues for businesses.

Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah disclosed at this year’s Regional Business Awards dubbed ‘Paa Grant Medal for Business Excellence’ in Takoradi.

The event, held on the theme, ‘The Potential for Trade and Industries for Sustainable Development’ was to award businesses working and growing the economy of the region in the preceding year.

The Minister said, “We strategically selected August 4, 2023 as the befitting day to honor business that have excelled and to also forcefully trumpet the good works of patriots like Paa Grant and the legendary Jacob Wilson Sey”.

“These two great sons of Ghana and the Western Region sacrificed their ideas, beliefs and cash to position Ghana well. What they did way before independence using their hard-earned cash has served Ghana well,” he added

Barbara Oteng Gyasi, Chairperson of the Board of the Minerals Commission noted that the Commission has commenced the implementation of its new regulations which has increased the number of  goods and services to be provided by local businesses for companies in the mining sector.

She said the purpose of the Regulations among others is to promote job creation using local expertise, goods and services in the mining industry and their retention in the country.

The law is also to achieve the minimum in-country spend for goods and services and create mining and mineral related industries that will sustain economic development.

Adamus Resources Limited, a gold mining company in the Ellembelle district of the Region was adjudged the best mining company in the western region.
