Your Prayers Gave Me Victory, I Need More – Bawumia

VICE PRESIDENT Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, insists the wise counsel and fervent prayers of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, helped him to win the recently held NPP Special Electoral College Elections on August 26, 2023.

According to him, he is eternally grateful to the Asante Monarch for the fatherly love, stressing that he still needs Otumfuo’s blessings and support in order to be elected as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections.

The Vice President made the touching and emotional remarks when he stormed the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi with his delegation on Sunday afternoon to join the Asantehene and other chiefs in Asanteman to celebrate the Akwasidae festival.

“I’m at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi this Sunday afternoon to join my father, the Asantehene and other prominent chiefs in Asanteman to celebrate the Akwasidae festival,” he stated.

 

Previous Appeal To Otumfuo

“You all remember that prior to the NPP Special Delegates Election, which was held  on August 26, 2023, I came to this same palace and I humbly asked for Otumfuo’s blessings and support to enable me emerge victorious in that elections.

“On that day, my father (Otumfuo) advised me to campaign based on what I can do for the party and the country at large if I am elected as president, devoid of insults, name calling and insinuations.

“After the wise counsel, the Asantehene also gave me his blessings and I’m excited and proud to announce to Otumfuo and Asanteman today that Otumfuo’s blessings has helped me to win the August 26, 2023 election.

“And after this important victory, I can’t stay in Accra, it’s important that I rush to the Manhyia Palace again and personally thank Otumfuo and Asanteman for their blessings and support, which gave me the victory,” he said.

Continuing, the Vice President stated emphatically that he appreciates the amazing love and support that the Asantehene and the entire Asante Kingdom have shown to him in his political career so far, saying “thank you Otumfuo”.

 

Calls for More Support 

Dr. Bawumia also took the opportunity to appeal to the Asantehene to bless him once again so that he would convincingly win the upcoming NPP presidential election on November 4, 2023 and lead the party to retain power.

“We are now done with the first election and it’s now left with the final one, which is scheduled to take place on November 4, 2023. And I’m again calling for Otumfuo and Asanteman’s support to win this election as well,” he stressed.

Dr. Bawumia stated that, “I’m once again calling for Otumfuo’s blessings and direction so that in the end, I would emerge as the presidential candidate of the NPP for the 2024 national elections.”
