MPASATIA ZONGOHENE in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, Chief Abdullah Mohammed I, has made a passionate appeal to the Council of State members to advise President Akufo-Addo to find a lasting solution to the perennial flooding which is affecting many people in cities.
According to Chief Abdullah Mohammed I in an interview with Kumasi – based Hello FM with Nana Akwasi Kyere, more than 200 residents of Atwima Mponua District have been displaced following the recent heavy rainfall. On Monday 27 September 2021, six persons including minors were confirmed dead following the downpour which flooded parts of the Ashanti Region.
“I’m calling on the Council of State members to advise President Nana Addo to find some lasting solution to the rampant flooding which is affecting many people in cities”.
Chief Abdullah Mohammed, I also advocated for the Assemblies to rekindle the spirit of communal labour to boost developmental projects by also incorporating Nananom in decision-making processes.
He also called on the government to empower the National Commission for Civic Education ( NCCE) and the Ministry of Information to team up with media to educate the public on unauthorized structures.
