12 Arrested Over Gbalo, Kukpong/Sagong Clash

An intelligence-led operation by the police in the North East Region has led to the arrest of 12 persons in connection with clashes in Gbalo and Kukpong/Sagong in the Chereponi District of the Region.

The clashes last month led to the burning down of 16 houses and the killing of several livestock.

Police timely intervention saved lives with calm restored immediately in the area.

A press release signed by Director of Public Affairs Chief Supt Grace Ansah-Akrofi said luckily, the operation on Wednesday, August 24 led to the arrest of the perpetrators who are set to be arraigned before court on Thursday, August 25 “to face justice”.

The police urged all to use dialogue instead of violence in resolving differences

Furtherance to that the Ghana Police Service thanked the North East Regional Commander, DCOP Moses Ali Kpeachin, and his team “for their efforts in restoring calm and gathering intelligence leading to the arrest of the key suspects behind the clashes”.
