3 Dead, 31 Injured In Nkawkaw Accident

 

A horrific road accident on the Nkawkaw-Accra highway in the Eastern Region has claimed the lives of three people and left 31 others injured.

The crash, which occurred on Saturday, August 31, involved a DAF truck and a TATA bus, resulting in a catastrophic scene.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened at Nkawanda no. 2, with the DAF truck and TATA bus colliding head-on.

The report said the impact was so severe that three people on board the truck lost their lives, while 31 passengers on the bus sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The Nkawkaw Fire Station received a distress call at 2109 hours and promptly dispatched a crew to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found a chaotic situation, with passengers trapped in the wreckage.

The crew worked tirelessly to extricate the dead and injured, transporting them to Kenop Care Hospital in Nkawkaw for medical treatment.

The Municipal Fire Commander, DOII Samuel Mante, confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collision.

He also reported that all 31 injured passengers are receiving treatment and are in stable condition.
