The mangled car at the scene
Three persons died on the spot in a car accident on Saturday at Solikopey in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region.
The accident occurred when the driver of the Hyundai Accent salon car with registration number GC 7801-12 lost control of the vehicle which somersaulted and hit a tree in a nearby bush.
The deceased have been identified as Frank Djanmah Ossa alias Friction, the driver, Bridget Agbeve and Rudolf Addey.
Their bodies have been deposited at the Ada District Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
Bridget and Rudolf were said to have travelled from Accra to visit Frank.
Eyewitness told DAILY GUIDE that the deceased were onboard the car which was traveling from Big Ada to Ada Foah, adding that the driver lost control of the car that crashed into a tree.
According to the eyewitness, the police were called in after some residents of the area rushed to the area to help save them.
“All of them died on the spot and we were there when the fire service arrived on the scene to help cut the car to remove the people in the car.
“When they came, they brought out a generator from the car only to send another person to run and buy fuel to power it.
“It took more than 30 minutes to fuel this generator. The question I am asking is, if these victims were to be alive and in a critical condition what do you think will have happened to them? We need to be serious in this country,” the eyewitness stated.
Superintendent Faustina Agyeiwaa Kodua Andoh-Kwofie, the Ada Foah District Police Commander, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said that the accident occurred at about 9:30 pm and that investigations had been launched into the matter.
She used the opportunity to advise drivers, who ply the Big Ada, Ada Foah stretch of the road to be cautious ahead of the Asafotufiami Festival, which comes off in the next two weeks, saying that “the drivers should be careful and not drink alcohol since the road is dangerous and there are many trees along the road.
