Suspected robbers Kofi Moses, Buni Cestus and Akwasi Gyan

The Wa District Court in the Upper West Region has remanded into custody three allegedly notorious armed robbers – Kofi Moses, 20 years old, Buni Cestus, 19 and Akwasi Gyan, 25 – who are said to have been terrorising residents, mostly women in the area, and robbing them at gunpoint.

The suspected criminals are expected to appear in court on July 12, 2016.

The Wa Township has lately witnessed a number of robbery incidents with motorbike snatching and women being attacked in the night at knife or gunpoint.

The Deputy Upper West Regional Police Commander, ACP Dr. Sayibu Gariba, who confirmed the arrests to DAILY GUIDE, said on July 2, 2016, a lady was attacked in the night and her motorbike and some undisclosed amount of money snatched from her at knife point.

According to him, the victim reported the matter to the police and based on that Kofi Moses was apprehended.

During police interrogation, he said Moses mentioned Buni and Akwasi as his accomplices and they were both arrested at their various hideouts.

A search conducted by the police revealed items such as 4 motorbikes, 8 mobile phones, knives, locally manufactured pistol, scissors, hammers and face marks they supposedly use during their nefarious operations.

ACP Sayibu Gariba indicated that some victims had come to identify the items which they lost to the night marauders during their robbery operations.

Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE has it that further investigations revealed that the three robbers belong to a gang of hoodlums who were previously arrested for snatching motorbikes from people.

Another search conducted in one of the robbers’ room revealed computers, cameras and scanners.
