The suspects

The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers, who have been terrorizing residents in the New Juaben South Municipality.

The suspects- Prince Kweku Asare, alias Prince, 24; Kwame Abass, 19 and Samuel Awudza alias Dada, 19, were arrested at their hideout after breaking into a shop to steal GH¢38,405.00.

Three other suspects are currently at large.

ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), said Richard Kwabena Boakye, the owner of the shop located at Atekyem, suburb of Koforidua, on 6th March, 2018, made a distress call to the Regional Police Information room and reported that a group of persons had stormed his shop and tied the security guards on duty.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspects broke the lock to the shop and moved to the manager’s office to steal the daily sales of GH¢38,405.00.

The police, after receiving the complaint, proceeded to the scene to investigate the matter thoroughly.

ASP Ebenezer Tetteh underscored that the suspects, numbering about six with face masks, guns and cutlasses, escaped when they got wind of the police.

“On the same day around 11:00 am, the said robbers were arrested by undercover operatives of the Regional CID at their hideout at Obuoma, near Water Works in Koforidua,” ASP Tetteh added.

He, however, noted that the suspects would be put before court soon, adding that the police would apprehend the other suspects.
