Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicates that civilian doctors at the 37 Military Hospital are aggrieved over their exclusion from the condition of service (COS) and category 2 & 3 allowances of medical officers in the public sector.
In protest, the doctors are on the verge of embarking on a strike, should the Military High Command fail to implement the said benefits by November 18, 2016.
According to sources, persistent letters and inquiries addressed to the high command with respect to the delay in the implementation of the said conditions of service and category 2 and 3 allowances have proven futile.
A correspondence chanced upon by DAILY GUIDE reads, “We are, therefore, at a loss as to why the Military High Command will refuse to implement the conditions of service when all the necessary documentation has been done.”
According to sources, doctors at other public hospitals are receiving their category 2 and 3 allowances and benefiting from the implementation of negotiated condition of service between the Ghana Medical Association and government since January 2016.
However, the doctors at the 37 Military Hospital are yet to benefit from the agreed condition of service and category 2 and 3 allowances.
An official at the Public Relations Unit of the hospital when contacted by DAILY GUIDE on the issue stated that it was untrue, as workers could not go on strike.
