4 Ashaiman Drug Pushers Caged

THE ASHAIMAN Circuit Court has remanded into police custody four persons behind the smuggling of 892 slabs of marijuana into Bethlehem, near Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

They were charged with the offence of unlawful possession of narcotic plants contrary to Section 41 (1) & (2) (b) and use of property for narcotic offences contrary to Section 48(1)(a) & (b) of the Narcotics Control Commission Act 2020 (Act 1019).

The suspects, Boniface Abayah, Djandu Samuel, Godwin Agbesi and Kwame Akwetey, however pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them in the court presided over by His Honour Delali Anku.

On Friday, June 4, 2021 at about 3:30pm, the suspects were rounded up when they were conveying the suspected narcotic drugs in a Benz bus with registration number GR 2913-G.

Police intelligence led to the arrest of the narcotics dealers who use a hotel located at Bethlehem-Ashaiman as a transit point to distribute the plant material from the Volta Region to other suppliers in Ashaiman and its environs.
