6 Armed Robbers Nabbed In K’dua

Stephen Tetteh

The police in the Eastern Region have arrested three people who allegedly attacked and robbed a filling station at Apersua, a suburb of Nkurakan in the Upper Manya Krobo District of the region last week.

The names of the three were given by the police as Stephen Tetteh, 29; Kwasi Christopher, 25 and Daniel Sobley Teye, 20.

Another gang of three whose identities were not disclosed by the police for security reasons, are said to be among the robbery syndicate terrorizing residents of Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital.

Confirming the separate arrests, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Eastern Regional police spokesperson, told DAILY GUIDE that the purported filling station robbers were smoked out of their hideouts.

According to the police officer, the filling station robbers made away with GH¢3,191.

He said the security man guarding the station, Alex Teye, 55, and a fuel attendant, Ransford Teye, 17, were injured in the attack and had to be rushed to the Regional Government Hospital in Koforidua where they were admitted and are receiving treatment.

“Initial investigation reveals that the robbers gained access to the place by scaling over the wall from the bush behind the premises. It was observed that they smashed all the lights around, attacked the victims and finally bolted with a safe containing the amount mentioned,” he claimed.
