6 Grabbed Over NDC Violent Polls

TWO PEOPLE have been arrested in connection with disturbances and damage to properties during an internal poll of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Atiwa East last Saturday.

Patrick Anyimadu and Millicent Pennin were arrested by police at Anyinam in the Eastern Region for allegedly engaging some people to attack and destroy some properties as well as disturb the peace of the area.

They are currently in police custody assisting with investigation, the police said in a statement.

This brings to six the number of people arrested by the police for the violence that characterised the branch and constituency elections of the main opposition party across the country at the weekend.

Earlier on, the police arrested four people at Fomena following disturbances at the NDC constituency elections in the Adansi North in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects were said to have engaged in violent behaviour, thereby disturbing the peace of the area and the polls.

In the latest arrest, the police said, “Efforts are underway to get the other accomplices arrested to face justice.”
