87 Females Equipped With Employable Skills

Adamus Mining Resources Company, a wholly Ghanaian-owned mining company in the Western Region, has equipped some 87 young women with employable skills under its Women Empowerment Project (WEP).

It was aimed at equipping the young women in the Ellembelle District and Nzema East Municipality with skills to be self-reliant and more productive.

The beneficiary women were mainly drawn from the Nzema area of the Western Region where the mining company operates.

The three-month programme saw the young woman being trained in beauty technology, hairdressing, cosmetic science, makeup, millinery and accessories among others.

The College of Beauty Arts and Entrepreneurship conducted the training.

At the graduation ceremony at Ampain district over the weekend, the beneficiaries were given the requisite tools from the mining company to help them set up their own businesses.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Adamus Resources Company, Madam Angela List, explained that the initiative was to provide skills to the young women in the company’s operating areas to help reduce the unemployment situation in the area.

“It was also intended to equip the individuals with skills to create a better life for themselves,” she added.

She commended the women for making themselves available, taking the training seriously and being resilient in spite of the various challenges they went through adding, “You are like me. I am an optimist so I don’t give up easily”.

She emphasized that, “it is our hope that with such an investment in training and entrepreneurship programme it will impact the country as a whole starting in the Western Region.”

She thanked the College of Beauty Arts and Entrepreneurship for its commitment to supporting the Adamus Resources Company to train the youth to become self-reliant.

Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah explained that the training was not to discriminate against men adding, “Dr Kwrgyir Aggrey said that if you educate a man, you educate an individual but if you educate a woman you have educate a nation”.

He said the only way the country could come out from its economic crisis, was through entrepreneurship and praised Adamus Resources for taking their Corporate Social Responsibilities seriously.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ellembelle, Kwasi Bonzoh commended Adamus Resources for the great move to help reduce the unemployment rate in the District.

Madam Regina Donkor, Board member of Adamus Resources told the beneficiaries, “As you go out, use the squired skills and knowledge to make positive impacts”.
