‘Give NPP Chance’

The Acting National Chairman New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, is optimistic the people of the Upper East Region will not back President Mahama and his National Democratic Congress (NDC) in this year’s general elections.

According to him, President Daramani Mahama and the NDC have taken the people of the Upper East region for granted despite the massive support.

“The people have realised that the President and his party do not appreciate their support and will vote massively against them,” he added.

He disclosed this in Bolgatanga after a closed door meeting with all parliamentary candidates of the party in the region, as well as some former District Chief Executives (DCEs).

Mr. Blay told the media that the parliamentary candidates shared their challenges during the meeting.

“We know that many people in the region will reject President Mahama in this year’s elections, but after this meeting, I’m now getting convinced that the party’s chances in the region are very bright like in other regions. The NPP had two parliamentary seats but reduced to one; the NDC had more, fortunately they have been complacent and they have been incompetent and have not been able to deliver.

“We are aware that the president was here and could not commission even one project to commensurate the support he has had from the region. They have taken the region for granted and for that matter they don’t care.”

Hon. Freddy Blay said the NDC fraudulently brought a number of bulldozers from Tamale to the Bolgatanga-Bawku road and showed them to the media to create the impression that a contractor had moved to site to commence work on the road.

The Bolgatanga-Bawku Road has been in deplorable condition for a long time and many appeals by chiefs and people along this road have not been heeded. This year being an election year, President Mahama flew in to Zebila to cut the sod for work on the road to commence. Unfortunately, it appears the NDC only deceived the people of the region, because soon after the sod-cutting ceremony, the vehicles moved away from site and people still spend two and half hours for a journey that could have been made in 45 minutes.

Acting National Chairman of the NPP, who was in the company of the National Nasara Coordinator, Kamara-deen Abdallah, asked the people of the Upper East region to give the NPP the chance in this year’s election to improve the country’s economy.

He called on the media to get involved by educating the people about the activities of the Mahama administration that has imposed untold hardship on the citizens, especially those in the Upper East, West and Northern regions.
