‘Nkrumah Guards’ Praise CPP Suspended Officers

Nii Armah Akomfrah and Ernesto Yeboah

A group calling itself the Kwame Nkrumah Revolutionary Guards (KNRG) has congratulated the General Secretary and National Youth Organizer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nii Armah Akomfrah and Ernesto Yeboah respectively “for standing up for truth.”

The CPP suspended the said executives on June 30, 2016 for breaching its disciplinary code after they had publicly contradicted the party’s flagbearer, Ivor Greenstreet’s position on President Mahama’s Ford gift saga.

They were subsequently referred to the Disciplinary Committee, but the committee, chaired by Kwaw Ansah, cleared them of wrongdoing over issues related to their suspension.

KNRG, in a statement signed by Comrade Danaa Nantogmah, its Northern Regional Representative to the Central Committee Supreme Commander, disclosed that the said officers did nothing wrong to warrant the suspension.

It said, “We are of the view that justice has been served and confirms our position that the decision taken by Prof. Delle and some members of the Central Committee was illegal, undemocratic and unconstitutional.

“We commend the CPP’s Disciplinary Committee, chaired by Comrade Kwaw Ansah and all its members for upholding the rule of law and sending a clear message to all CPP members and its leadership, in particular, that our actions and inactions must be guided by the CPP’s constitution and the constitution of the Republic of Ghana.”
