A 48-year old man, Sombor Naah Nimiboyola, has been arrested by Wenchi police for killing a man whose name the police were not able to give (the deceased) at Amoakrom, a village near Buoku all in the Wenchi Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region.
The suspect claimed he killed the deceased because the deceased also killed his (suspect’s) brother Kwabena Anthony, who the deceased claimed had stolen his cockerel though there has not been any information about the death of any Anthony in the community. The body of the slain man has since been deposited at Wenchi Methodist Hospital for autopsy whilst investigations continue into the case.
Briefing DAILY GUIDE, Public Relations Officer of Ghana Police Service in B/A, ASP Christopher Tawiah said community members themselves arrested Sombor Naah Nimiboyola on the 2nd of August and handed him to the police. He commended them for their action by not taking the law into their hands to lynch the suspect but handed him over to police to face the law.
According to him, upon interrogation, Sombor told police that the deceased had earlier killed his brother (Sombor’s brother) namely Kwabena Anthony who the deceased accused of stealing his fowl so he also decided to kill him to compensate the death of his brother. He therefore inflicted cutlass wounds on his head leading to his death.
The police are yet to ascertain the veracity of his claim as investigations continue.
