Two of the vehicles
The communication team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Suhum Constituency of the Eastern Region has observed that the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Suhum – who is also the parliamentary candidate for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) – has been using vehicles belonging to the assembly for her campaign activities.
In a press statement signed by the team’s spokesman, Ayensu Stephen, it stated that the MCE’s personal assistant had been driving around town with the assembly’s vehicles to the chagrin of the assembly drivers. It added that her campaign stickers were also occasionally used to brand the vehicles.
The party noted that sometimes public address systems were mounted on the vehicles and used for dawn broadcasts. “All this goes on without any word from the coordinating director at the assembly or the various people in-charge who are supposed to prevent such occurrences,” the statement underscored.
The NPP challenged an accusation against its Member of Parliament (MP) by the Young Democratic Cadres (YODEC), an NDC-affiliated pressure group.
The MP, Frederick Opare–Ansah, was last Monday accused of peddling lies against the NDC government, saying it (government) had taken away a contract he (MP) won on 23rd October, 2008 to construct Suhum town roads.
