NPP Ladies Storm Ashaiman With Waakye

Loyal Ladies for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a group sympathetic to the cause of the party, has appealed to the electorate at the Ashaiman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region to change their voting pattern and vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the party, in the December general election.

According to the women, NPP is committed to improving the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian and transforming Ghana, unlike the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) which does not have the welfare of Ghanaians at heart.

They further noted that the current administration is characterized by incompetence, mismanagement and unprecedented massive corruption and scandals in the history of Ghana.

Modesta Darbo, communications director of Loyal Ladies who made the observation during distribution of free local delicacy called waakye to the constituents at Ashaiman as part of a campaign strategy to canvas for votes for Nana Addo, refuted the assertion that the Waakye Feast is a joke and vote buying.

“As a result of the hardship Ghanaians are currently going through under the Mahama-led NDC administration, there is need to meet people in the right frame of mind because everyone is suffering; that is why we decided to add food to our campaign strategy to ensure that people listen to us.

“We are not asking the people to come for waakye and vote for us but we want to reach out to the less-privileged in the constituency with the food, and as youth, we feel that it is important to give him that and this is like a humanitarian work,” she pointed out.

According to her, the import of the programme was to interact with the residents to know what really their challenge is and accordingly address them when the NPP wrests power from the NDC.

She accused the NDC and President Mahama of having a misplaced priority for the people of Ashaiman, adding, “That really informed us to put together the Waakye Feast.

“President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC have failed the test of governance and must be voted out to prevent the situation from developing into a full-blown crisis.”

She further said that the group would intensify its efforts to unseat the NDC administration to alleviate Ghanaians from the burden imposed on them by the incompetence admininstration.
