Achimota Golf Club Off To Abuja

A 19-member contingent of golfers from Premier Golf Club, Achimota, flew out of the country yesterday to Abuja, Nigeria for a special tournament (Independence Day Championship) scheduled for today to Sunday.

Club vice Captain, Mark Cofie, who led the contingent has promised to reverse the status quo which favours the host country by returning home as victors.

ā€œThese games have always favoured the host Club, but we have resolved to leave good footprints in this competition,ā€ Cofie told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS minutes before departure at the Kotoka International Airport yesterday.

The four-day competition, which is in commemoration of Nigeriaā€™s independence anniversary celebration will see host-IBB International Golf and Country Club, Nigeria parading their very best against their visiting counterparts.

Golfers who made the trip Ā on board Ā Arik, the official airline partner of the tourney were like Elizabeth Aku Yaba, Evans Darko Mensah, David Arkutu, Eric Addo Mensah, Mark Cofie, Kofi Agyei, George Y. Amoah, Competition Secretary, Peace Akwei, Chris Apau Oppong (Tiger), Paul Jacobs, Emmanuel Quarcoo and Innocent Wayne.

The rest are Yao Dogbe, Sampson Assogbah, Mawuli Ababio, Samuel Nkansah, Michael Darko, Paul Jacobs and Michael Obeng Appiah.
