Three persons died on the spot when a Progressive People’s Party (PPP) campaign vehicle ran into a group of four persons at a spot near Salaga in the Northern Region.
The three – two males and a female – and a fourth person, according to a local reporter, Christopher Amoako were occupants of a motorbike.
The pickup truck with registration number, GT 2926 – 12 had Nduom’s pictures branded on it.
The vehicle had gone to dispatch chairs at Bundai where the party is holding a mini-rally as part of Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom’s tour to the Northern Region.
A fourth person who is a child, Christopher further said on Adom FM’s Midday News Wednesday is receiving treatment at the Salaga Government Hospital.
The accident was said to have happened around 10:30am.
Occupants of the motorcycle, he reported further were Fulani herdsmen who resided at Kabaten No 1 and Kabaten No 2 on the Salaga-Bundai road.
The bodies of the deceased were sent to Salaga.
Occupants of the vehicle including the driver, Amoako said absconded after the accident leaving behind the vehicle and the victims.
Police, he said are yet to go and tow the vehicle from the accident scene.
However, a reporter with the Today Newspaper, who is part of Nduom’s tour, Richard Kwasi Adjei claimed the vehicle was not part of the flagbearer’s convoy.
According to him, the team is yet to be notified of the accident.
