Opoku Set To Lead Accra Circles

Aspiring Asante Kotoko Greater Accra Regional Circles Council chairman Charles Opoku says he is ready to put together an effective and efficient Executive Committee to drive the Council to a different level when given the nod this Saturday.

Having served and worked diligently in various positions in the Greater Accra Circles Council since 2008, Opoku believes supporters are an intrinsic part of a club and consulting them in a democratic and structured way leads to better decision making which benefits both the club, regional Circles Council and local Circles and community.

The founder of the Industrial City Supporters Union of Kotoko in Tema, which is now Circle 55, pointed out that existing Circles in the Region would be properly maintained through pragmatic measures and promised to create ten new Circles in the Region in his first hundred days in office.

He said a revolving fund with a seed money of ¢20,000  as a start up capital would be created with proceeds taking care of every Council activity as well as subsidizing members transportation cost for meetings.

“We shall encourage more women in the Council to take a role in an executive position. The current Kotoko Royal Ladies shall be properly catered for in all their programs and activities especially their entry to Kotoko matches and other programs.”

“The Council shall engage the services of referees and match commissioners to interact and also enlighten the supporters on their mandate during matches. A business advisory committee would be tasked to come up with programs that would help create jobs for local Circle and Council members.”

“The Council in collaboration with a sponsorship package would create vending shops in every local circle catchment area. We shall also create young supporters groups in various basic schools, I am ready to serve,” Opoku said.

The 37-year-old Business Development Executive of Labianca Company Limited, the biggest frozen food distribution company in Tema has been a constant host and financier of Kotoko when the team visits the southern part of Ghana particularly Tema indicated that it is high time the Greater Accra Circles Council assumed a new face and direction.
