Abdul Salam Yakubu
Founding president of New Edubiase United Abdul Salam Yakubu says the decision to disband the club’s technical and management teams was purely on technical grounds.
Nicknamed Sabato, the young leader told this writer in a telephone interview that the decision was to overhaul the technical department as it strives to raise it to another level.
He attributed the team’s not-too-impressive showing in the last few seasons to laxity on the part of the technical and some members of the management team.
To him, that accounted for the team’s constant threat to join the lower tier side in the last three seasons which caught up with them eventually in the last season, although Congress; the highest decision making body of the league, is yet to confirm their relegation status.
“I decided to disband the technical team to breathe life into that department, it is high time we shift the gear to another level else the team will find itself in Division Two.
“I have realized that some persons also don’t have the club at heart, and have been operating on their selfish and parochial interest. It is not helping the team, hence the decision.
“We want to revive the New Edubiase spirit, we saw it coming the last three seasons, and that was why we straggled to survive. When there is positive change, there is development, I want fresh faces ”.
